 Asking Opinion


In language, asking means asking while opinion means Opinion / Opinion. When the two words are combined, asking opinion means “asking for an opinion”or "asking for an opinion".


Asking opinion is used when you want to ask or need someone else's opinion. There are many ways to ask for opinions in English, let's look at the following examples:


What is your opinion? (What is your opinion / opinion?)

What is your idea? (What's your idea?)

What are your thoughts on ...? (What do you think about ...?)

What is your point of view? (What is your point of view?)

What/how do you think / reckon about ...? (What do you think about ...?)

How do you think of my idea? (What do you think of my idea?)

How do you feel about ...? (How do you feel about ...?)

Do you have any idea? (Do you have any ideas?)

Do you have opinion of ...? (Do you have an opinion on ...?)

Giving Opinion

If above we learned about asking opinions, now we will see how to give an opinion or giving an opinion. Before expressing an opinion or idea in your mind, you must know how to start the right sentence. So that others can easily understand your opinion.


Take a good look at the following example!


I think/Personally I think... (I think.../personally, I think...)

In my opinion / In my humble opinion.... (In my opinion...)

From my point of view...)

To / in my mind... (according to my mind...)

I (strongly) believe (that) ... (I (strongly)believe (that...)

As for me, I reckon... (as for my taste...)

As far as I'm concerned ... (as far as I'm concerned...)

Examples Of Asking And Giving Opinions

Vic: Hi Kev, have you heard about the new bakery store? (Hello Kev, have you heard about the new bakery?)


Kev: Yes, I have (yes, I have)


Vic: What do you think about it? (What do you think about that?)


Kev: Personally,I think the flavor is a little bit too sweet


Vic: Hmm, I disagree with you. (Hmm, I disagree with you.)


Kev: Then, what is your point of view? (So what do you think?)


Vic: In my opinion the cake and bread is delicious. (From my point of view, the cakes and bread are delicious)


Kev: Fair enough, As far as I am concerned they're still new so they can still develop. (Fair enough, as far as I know they are still new so can still improve.)


Vic: Yes, I totally agree with you. (Yes, I totally agree with you)
