Definition short functional text is a short text with a specific meaning. This meaning relates to human daily life. The form could be a prohibition, invitation, short message, or announcement. There are so many types that have different functions.

Purpose The purpose of a recount is to list and describe past experiences by retelling events in the order in which they happened. Recounts are written to retell events with the purpose of either informing or entertaining their audience (or both).

Types/kinds of

a) Invitation = Wedding invitation, Birthday invitation(artinya undangan. Kita menggunakan jenis teks ini ketika kita akan mengundang keluarga, teman dan orang-orang untuk menghadiri sebuah acara)

b) Short Message = (artinya pesan singkat. pesan singkat ini bisa berupa SMS, e-mail, dan memo)

c) Letter (berarti surat. surat ini dibedakan menjadi beberapa macam yakni: formal letter (surat formal), informal letter (surat informal), business letter (surat bisnis), dan lain-lain)

d) Greeting card (artinya kartu ucapan. Kartu ucapan digunakan engucapkan sesuatu kepada seseorang lewat sebuah kartu)

e) Announcement (artinya pengumuman. kita sering temui jenis teks di public area (ruang publik), at school (di sekolah), at hospital (di rumah sakit, dll)
